Duke of Edinburgh's Award Gold Programme
Who is eligible?
Anyone aged between 16 and 24.
What is involved?
Because every young person chooses what they want to do, there is no such thing as 'TheDofE programme' – instead there are DofE programmes. When young people are taking part, they are doing a DofE programme - each DofE programme is personal to the individual and there is no such thing as the DofE programme.
A Gold DofE programme has 5 sections:
|Volunteering||see Programme ideas for suggestions|
|Physical||see Programme ideas and Planner for suggestions|
|Skills||see Programme ideas for suggestions|
|Residential||see Residential information|
- You must do at least 12 months Volunteering
- You must do 12 months on either the Physical or Skills section, and 6 months on the other
(it's up to you which one you do for longer).
- You must plan, train for, and do a 4 days (3 nights) Expedition (plus an acclimatisation day) which should take place in 'wild country'.
The big difference at Gold is you'll also do a Residential section - staying away from home for five days and four nights doing a shared activity with people you don't know. It's great fun and a real chance to do something different!
If you've jumped straight into your Gold DofE programme you'll need to do a further six months either volunteering or whichever one of your physical or skills activities you spent the most time on.
When does it start?
Courses start in November/December (see programme for details) and the Expedition section must be completed by September, when you have to give a presentation to the staff. The remainder of the course must be completed before your 25th birthday.
How long does it take?
At least 12 months if you've achieved your Silver Award, or 18 months if you've started at Gold level without doing your Silver - even if you've done Bronze.
How much does it cost?
Please contact your school for costs.
How do I enrol?
Please contact your school for registration details. Rezilient will require a medical consent form and email/photo consent form - sor forms above.
